Evaluation

The following software client applications are available on the Microsoft Downloads center and are provided to assist you with creating business intelligence documents that run on a SQL Server instance. When you host these documents in a server environment, use an edition of SQL Server that is supported for that document type. The following table identifies which SQL Server edition contains the server features required to host the documents created in these client applications.

Cross Subnet Failover

It is not clear in this latest version of comparison table that cross subnet failover clusters are only supported on SQL Server Enterprise Edition.  In previous versions of this table this was clearly identified.  When using host or array based replication solutions to build multi-site clusters you must use Enterprise Edition if the cluster nodes reside in different subnets.

No difference in source media except for the preincluded S/N

I  was recently tasked to download SQL Server 2012  Ent, BI, Dev, Web, and Standard but all of the different source ISO's checksummed differently and accordingly to the MSDN list.

In my effort to save space and avoid wasting polymers, I extracted them to a DASD and comparing the different version in hopes to burn a "megasetup" DVD with just the differing files in different directories based on the developers SQL type requirements, such as a big single DVD with different directories at the root of the files unique by each folder like one for Ent version, Web, etc.

When performing the binary comparisonl, the only difference was the S/N -InstallKey inside the inluded default/'setup.ini files, every other file diff'd ou identically using FCIV with the -both flag for MD5 and SHA1 inspection.

The point being, if it isn't a circumcisable offense, you could download one and burn one version and use the different keys in accordance with any agreements/constraints dictated to you by Microsoft and save the blank DVD's for video games or to feed a tree.
