Khi đến định cư ở Úc và các nước nói tiếng Anh, có nhiều người biết cách viết tên của họ một cách hợp lệ trên giấy tờ, tuy nhiên cũng có nhiều người không để ý nên có thể có nhiều điều rắc rối về sau. Tiểu mỗ là một trong những người không để ý (hơi coi thường) chuyện viết tên tuổi, bởi thế mới bị một vài phiền phức liên quan đến tên tuổi xin chia sẻ cùng mọi người.
Việc thứ nhất cần để ý cách viết tên tiếng Anh (English) thường theo thứ tự như sau:
Tên Gọi (First Name) + Tên Đệm (Middle Name) + Tên Họ (Last Name / Surname)
Chuyện này có lẽ nhiều người đã biết, tuy nhiên có một vài điểm cần chú ý - Ví dụ một người tên Việt Nam là "Trần Thị Tha Thiết" chẳng hạn, sau khi sang Úc muốn có thêm một tên tiếng Anh là "Teresa", vậy khi viết cái tên đầy đủ theo cách viết tên tiếng Anh thì nên viết làm sao? Theo tiểu mỗ hiểu có những cách như sau tùy theo người này muốn Tên Gọi (First Name) của mình là gì:
Trường hợp 1 - Nếu người đó muốn có Tên Gọi (First Name) chính là "Thiết" thì tên nên được ghi theo tứ tự: Thiết + Terasa Thị Tha + Trần
Trường hợp 2 - Nếu người đó muốn có Tên Gọi (First Name) chính là " Tha Thiết" thì tên nên được ghi theo tứ tự: Tha Thiết + Terasa Thị + Trần hay Tha-Thiết + Terasa Thị + Trần
Trường hợp 3 - Nếu người đó muốn có Tên Gọi (First Name) chính là "Teresa" thì tên nên được ghi theo tứ tự: Terasa + Tha Thiết Thị + Trần hay Terasa + Thiết Thị Tha + Trần
Thường thứ tự của Tên Đệm (Middle Name) không quan trọng mấy như tiểu mỗ được giải thích bởi các nhân viên hữu trách, cái quan trọng Tên Gọi (First Name) lúc nào cũng phải viết đầu tiên & và viết đầy đủ (không nên viết tắt).
Tuy nhiên, một số đơn từ giấy tờ có ghi rõ từng phần cho người điền đơn thì mọi việc đơn giản hơn, chẳng hạn như: 1) First Name 2) Middle Name 3) Surname / Last Name
Nhưng một số đơn từ giấy tờ có thể được ghi như sau: 1) Surname / Last Name 2) Given Names
Cách gom lại các Tên Gọi và Tên Đệm vào Given Names thường hay là nguyên nhân của những sự rắc rối.
Trường hợp rắc rối thứ nhất - lỗi của mình khi viết sai thứ tự hoặc viết tắt tên không đúng cách cho Given Names: Theo ví dụ trên nếu "Trần Thị Tha Thiết Teresa" muốn dùng "Teresa" là Tên Gọi (First Name) nhưng nếu viết Given Names là: - "Thị Tha Thiết Teresa" thì First Name của người này tự động sẽ trở thành là "Thị"; - "Tha Thiết Teresa Thị" thì First Name của người này tự động sẽ trở thành là "Tha"; - "Tha-Thiết Teresa Thị" thì First Name của người này tự động sẽ trở thành là "Tha-Thiết"; - "T. T. Thiết T." thì First Name của người này tự động sẽ trở thành là "Thiết";
Trường hợp rắc rối thứ hai - mình viết đúng thứ tự nhưng một nhân viên nào đó không để ý và chọn đại một Tên Đệm (Middle Name) cho mình hay viết tắt Tên Gọi một cách không hợp lý. Ví dụ trường hợp của tiểu mỗ, lúc sang Úc, khi vào quốc tịch tiểu mỗ ghi tên của mình đúng theo thứ tự, khi điền đơn thi lấy bằng lái xe tiểu mỗ cũng ghi theo thứ tự đó tuy nhiên trong bằng lái xe họ đã viết một Tên Đệm của tiểu mỗ đầy đủ còn Tên Gọi (First Name) thì họ viết tắt. Ví dụ tên đầy đủ (Full Name) của tiểu mỗ là "Lê Dân Làng Nam", khi viết qua tiếng Anh là "Nam Dan Lang Le". Lúc viết tên vào bằng lái đúng ra họ phải viết (nếu cần viết tắt Tên Đệm) ví dụ "Nam L. D. Le" nhưng người làm bằng lái xe cho tiểu mỗ lại viết là "N. L. Dan Le". Thành thử đi đâu thiên hạ chỉ chấp nhận cái tên first name "Dan" chứ không chịu tiểu mỗ là "Nam"...
Bởi lý do này, về sau đi đâu làm giấy tờ, chẳng hạn First Name xài cho account trong nhà bank thì đúng nhưng khi so sánh với bằng lái xe nhiều nơi họ không chịu công nhận Tên Gọi (First Name) của mình gây rắc rối không ít.
Trước kia có vẻ họ hơi lỏng lẻo việc tên họ nhưng từ sau vụ 11 tháng 9 hầu hết các văn phòng chính phủ cũng như tư nhân họ đã kiểm tra rất kỹ tên tuổi trong các giấy tờ. Bởi thế quý vị nên kiểm tra tên của mình trong bằng lái xe, ngân hàng, bảo hiểm v.v. nếu nó không trùng hợp thì nên điều chỉnh cho nó trùng hợp càng sớm càng tốt kẻo khi hữu sự đụng đến giấy tờ chẳng những vừa tốn tiền (khi cần thay đổi gấp quý vị phải trả tiền thêm - có khi gấp đôi), vừa bất tiện có khi không kịp cho công việc quý vị.
Nếu quý vị nào không rõ phải nên làm gì khi cần đổi tên, trong một vài trường hợp quang trọng quý vị có lẽ nên tìm một luật sư để họ chỉ dẫn.
Sáng 6/12, Công an Hà Nội đã khởi tố, tạm giam 4 tháng Đỗ Văn Tiên (20 tuổi), Vũ Đình Phố (21 tuổi), Vũ Thị Hồng (16 tuổi) cùng ở tỉnh Hưng Yên và 3 nghi phạm về hành vi mua bán người.

Trong 4 tháng, Phố, Tiên và đồng bọn đã lừa bán 9 cô gái cho chủ chứa mại dâm ở nước ngoài tên là Tình, thu 15-20 triệu đồng một người. Cảnh sát xác định, với vẻ ngoài bảnh bao, Phố thường được giao chat, trao đổi hình qua webcam với một số thiếu nữ để rủ họ đi chơi và lừa bán.
Ngoài ra, Tiên cũng vờ tán tỉnh một nữ sinh viên ở Cần Thơ, rủ "người yêu" ra Bắc chơi và lừa bán với giá 15 triệu đồng. Còn Hồng vì tiền đã "đẩy" 2 bạn học cấp 3 vào tay "má mì" Tình.
Cuối tháng 11, nhóm này bị bắt khi đang chuẩn bị lừa tiếp một cô bé 14 tuổi. Hiện, cơ quan điều tra đã giải cứu được 4 trong 9 nạn nhân.

Sau khi hãm hại nữ công nhân ở khu đồi vắng và cướp xe máy, Hoài đã ném nạn nhân xuống giếng để bịt đầu mối. May mắn, nạn nhân đã được cứu sống.
Công an thị xã Sơn Tây (Hà Nội) đang tạm giữ Vẫn Anh Hoài (17 tuổi) để điều tra hành vi giết người, cướp tài sản.
Theo cơ quan điều tra, ngày 17/4, một người đàn ông trình báo con gái tên Lý (20 tuổi) bị mất tích.
Cảnh sát xác định, Lý là cô gái ít tiếp xúc với người lạ. Gần đây, nữ công nhân này có quen Vẫn Anh Hoài (xã Thọ Lộc, huyện Phúc Thọ, Hà Nội). Ngày 18/4, được mời đến trụ sở cảnh sát, Hoài thừa nhận là thủ phạm khiến Lý "biến mất" trong những ngày qua.
Anh ta cho biết ngày 16/4 hẹn Lý đón tại cây xăng ở xã Thọ Lộc. Thay vì chở cô bạn gái mới quen đến công ty để làm việc, Hoài lại chạy xe vào làng văn hóa - du lịch các dân tộc Việt Nam ở xã Cổ Đông, thị xã Sơn Tây. Sau quãng đường lòng vòng, Hoài dừng xe ở khu đồi vắng và cưỡng hiếp cô gái.
Trước khi bỏ đi, để bịt đầu mối "yêu râu xanh" đã quẳng nạn nhân xuống chiếc giếng bỏ hoang. Nhằm xóa dấu vết hiện trường, Hoài còn ném chiếc mũ bảo hiểm và dép của cô gái xuống giếng. Chiếc xe máy cướp được, anh ta mang đi đặt lấy 2 triệu đồng.
Ngay khi có lời khai của Hoài, cảnh sát đã đến hiện trường. "Rất may cô gái vẫn còn sống. Nạn nhân bị choáng đang được cấp cứu tại bệnh viện", Trưởng công an thị xã Sơn Tây Trần Quang Lịch cho biết.
Theo nhà chức trách, giếng không có nước, sâu gần 10 mét.
Rình các cặp nam nữ đang tình tự ở khu vực vắng, nhóm côn đồ xông ra đe dọa, cướp tài sản. Hàng loạt vụ cướp xảy ra cuối tháng 5 tại Hà Nội đang được cảnh sát truy tìm.
Khuya ngày 29/5, anh Đinh Mạnh Hà (29 tuổi, quận Thanh Xuân) đang ngồi tâm sự với bạn gái ở khu đô thị Định Công (quận Hoàng Mai) bất ngờ bị một thanh niên xông tới uy hiếp. Tên này gí dao vào cổ anh Hà, đe dọa cướp đi một triệu đồng rồi tẩu thoát trong đêm tối.
Cũng trong tối hôm đó, anh Nguyễn Văn Thảo (22 tuổi) cùng bạn gái ngồi tâm sự ở ven đường 24 thuộc xã Chi Đông, huyện Mê Linh đã bị 2 thanh niên đi xe máy không biển kiểm soát dùng dao đe dọa, cướp xe máy cùng 2 điện thoại di động.
Trước đó, khuya ngày 26/5, tại thị xã Sơn Tây một nhóm thanh niên 6 người đã đe dọa một đôi tình nhân đang tâm sự ở khu vực làng cổ Đường Lâm cướp ví tiền có 6,4 triệu đồng.
Công an đang truy tìm những nhóm cướp táo tợn trên. "Tội phạm bây giờ rất liều lĩnh. Chúng tôi khuyên các cặp tình nhân không nên ngồi tâm sự ở những nơi vắng vẻ vì dễ dàng trở thành mục tiêu bị cướp", một cán bộ điều tra khuyến cáo.

Sáng 26/7, những vết đục tường, phá cửa nham nhở của kẻ gian vẫn còn nguyên tại 6 phòng trọ của dãy nhà 33 và 35 khu tập thể trường Cao đẳng Du lịch Hà Nội, phường Nghĩa Đô, Hà Nội.
Theo các nạn nhân, trưa 25/7 nhân lúc họ vắng nhà, đạo tặc đã "ghé qua" lấy đi tiền và nhiều tài sản có giá trị.

Trong 7 ngày gần đây, dãy trọ này đã 3 lần bị kẻ gian đột nhập. Không chỉ đục tường, phá khóa cửa, chúng còn khoét các bản lề để nâng cánh cửa hòng chui vào bên trong. Tuy nhiên, 2 lần trước kẻ trộm chỉ lấy được một số đồ nhỏ lẻ. Vụ "khoắng" hàng loạt 6 phòng hôm 25/7 gây thiệt hại nhiều nhất với tổng cộng 7 máy ảnh, máy tính, điện thoại... bị lấy đi.
"Nhiều khả năng thủ phạm khá rành cuộc sống sinh hoạt của người dân nơi đây. Bởi những chiếc áo hàng hiệu, đắt tiền hay vật có giá trị đều bị chúng lục tìm và lấy đi", một nạn nhân nhận định.

Sau lần đưa Linh vào nhà nghỉ quan hệ tình dục, Bình dọa sẽ rêu rao chuyện này ở trường để buộc cô sinh viên 18 tuổi tiếp tục phải "chiều" anh ta.
Ngày 26/10, Công an quận Tây Hồ, Hà Nội đang tạm giữ hình sự Nguyễn Thanh Bình (32 tuổi, ở Nam Định) để điều tra hành vi cưỡng dâm.

Tại cơ quan điều tra, Bình thừa nhận có quen cô sinh viên đồng hương tên Linh, 18 tuổi, đang trọ học ở huyện Từ Liêm. Trưa 8/10, Bình hẹn đón Linh đi chơi và ép vào nhà nghỉ quan hệ tình dục.
Sau lần đó, cô gái quá sợ hãi cắt đứt mọi liên lạc với anh ta. Bình nhắn tin dọa sẽ thuê đầu gấu dằn mặt Linh, hay đến tận lớp học để rêu rao chuyện "chung đụng" trong nhà nghỉ.
Quá sợ hãi, tối 22/10, Linh đồng ý gặp để nói chuyện dứt khoát. Bình tiếp tục ép nạn nhân vào một nhà nghỉ...Linh chui vào toilet, đóng kín cửa và gọi điện thoại cho bạn tới cứu.
Ngay trong đêm, người bạn gái của Linh đã đến Công an phường Phú Thượng trình báo. Linh được giải cứu.
Bình thừa nhận ép Linh quan hệ tình dục. Anh ta đã có vợ và con ở quê.
Yes, it's the Dell Venue, and no, you still can't buy one outside Hong Kong or South Korea just yet. All we can speculate is that this Android phone is facing the same manufacturing issues as its WP7 cousin, but hopefully we're wrong. Anyhow, what matters is that we've finally gotten our hands on a retail unit of the Snapdragon-packing Venue. So is it worth the wait for Androiders distanced from the Far East? And will this handset be the answer for our love-hate relationship with the Streak? Head on right past the break to find out.
It's hard to deny that Dell's come a long way with the styling of its mobile devices, evolving from the cheap-looking Axim Windows Mobile PDAs (although the X50 series received much love from the community) to the now eye-catching Venue duo. Like the Streak, we've had people inquiring us about or at least eyeing at our Venue -- we're guessing it's mostly to do with the rounded chrome sides contrasting the black body, and the vibrant 4.1-inch AMOLED screen certainly helps as well despite its low visibility under strong daylight. Upon closer inspection, you'll also notice the subtly curved "Shear Design" Gorilla Glass -- which is also featured on the Venue Pro -- that covers practically the entire face of the phone, thus contributing towards the Venue's premium look no matter what angle you look at it from. Funnily enough, Dell didn't place much emphasis on the Shear Design's ergonomic benefits, but some of us feel that the curvature makes our thumb-swiping gesture slightly more comfortable. Maybe it's just us.
On a related note, the Venue's rounded sides and curved back also provide better grip, although there have been a few occasions when our naughty fingertips slipped around the back far enough to interfere with our touch input, especially when we're lying in bed. Looking back at our other phones for a sanity check, we realised that their sharper edges along the screen are actually pretty effective at stopping our fingertips from accidentally touching the screen; whereas the Venue lacks such "feature" to warn our fingers. Ah well, guess we have to sacrifice a little for the looks.
Going back to the glass: despite our careful handling and short ownership so far, our Venue's screen has somehow managed to accumulate a couple of light scratches. It sure was a surprise given the Gorilla Glass' impressive performance in our previous torture test -- perhaps our travel through the different climates of Hong Kong, Las Vegas and London made the material more vulnerable. We've written to Corning to see whether this is a possibility, so watch this space for an update.
Also noticeable at a close distance is the uneven finish on the chrome sides -- slowly tilt them lengthwise under a spot of light and you'll see small ripples running along them. That said, these are hardly noticeable from everyday usage, but we have a feeling that certain design houses like Apple and Nokia would frown upon this seemingly minor flaw. Regardless, we shouldn't complain too much -- HK$3,999 (US$514) isn't bad for a Froyo HSDPA smartphone that packs a 1GHz Snapdragon, 1GB ROM, 512MB RAM, a good quality 8 megapixel camera (we'll come to that later), and a 1400mAh battery that keeps us connected and entertained for a full day (with mainly 3G connection, some WiFi time, Twitter notifications, plenty of camera usage, some Internet browsing, and some music on the go). Speaking of which, we spotted an annoying bug when it comes to charging: we've never managed to charge the phone from zero percent using the wall outlet, even after leaving it plugged in overnight; yet plugging it into the computer gets it charging again, and about an hour later -- yes, just one hour -- we get full juice again regardless of the charging method. Coincidentally, we've also seen the same charging issue on the Venue Pro and the Streak as well, so here's hoping that Dell's engineers are reading this review.
Of course, we haven't forgotten about one of the most important aspects of a phone: audio quality. We have no complaints about the earpiece's performance, and noise suppression isn't bad even in a noisy environment -- it takes just one or two seconds to adjust to your voice. The loudspeaker, on the other hand, gently muddles phone calls from the other end of the line, and distortion is already apparent when playing music at around 70 percent volume (and this is only Diana Krall, not heavy metal). Even the Venue's headphone mode isn't perfect -- we get a small amount of static noise when our earphones are plugged in; whereas our other phones produce a much cleaner audio through the same buds. Audiophiles need not apply here.
Update: Five days after our review was published, we noticed that something's wrong with our Venue's GPS performance -- sometimes 3G data connection just dies when we attempt to use Foursquare or Google Maps, thus forcing us to manually re-enable the connection in settings. We thought it was a one-off when we first spotted this before we posted this article, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Hopefully this is an isolated case.
Software
If you've already taken a gander at our Streak 2.2 update review, then you've pretty much seen this all before. Straight out of the box you get the full-screen Stage UI widgets (for music, Twitter, Facebook, recent apps, contacts, and mail), quick scrolling between homescreens in the area below the widgets, a backup and restore app (for SMS, ringtones, bookmarks, apps, etc.), a sync utility to go with its Windows desktop suite (for multimedia and Outlook management; installer preloaded on the 16GB microSD card), Quickoffice suite, TuneIn Radio app (no FM radio, though), and Swype keyboard. The usual every-day apps like Music, Gallery, and Camera are of the stock flavor, and obviously you get Flash and live wallpaper support to boot. All is good here, except for the backup and restore utility: it doesn't really work. Well, it managed to restore once, but then it failed to revive the apps from the same backup after our second and third factory resets, despite the confirmation messages that said otherwise. Until Dell and Nero fix this bug, our advice is to just make a new backup after each restoration.
Even though superficially the Venue's OS is identical to the one on the Streak, we noticed that the former has no landscape mode for the homescreens. Ironically, this is quite the opposite of the portrait-less problem we had on the Streak before 2.2. But on the bright side, the overall UI has been pretty smooth for us, and perhaps that's why Dell's decided to disable homescreen rotation -- we did notice that there was a two to three-second delay between rotation on the Streak. As for benchmark performance, we got about 33 FLOPS on Linpack, 30fps on Neocore, and a humble score between 801 and 827 on Quadrant which is just behind the Galaxy S. Nothing outstanding, but nothing bad, either.
Ah, now this is where it gets interesting. As mentioned earlier, the Venue comes with an 8 megapixel AF camera that doubles as a 720p camcorder, but there isn't a front-facing camera. As with the resolution, picture quality has also been given a big boost compared to the Streak -- the colors are almost spot-on even when cloudy or at night, although sometimes it requires a few shots and some tapping on the screen to get the focus just right in the dark. As far as settings go, you'd struggle to find anything missing -- have a look at our stash of screenshots of the camera app in our software gallery and you'll see a vast number of options to tinker with. Just to name a few: face tracking, macro, exposure, scene modes, color effects, auto exposure modes, and many more. In fact, there are probably too many of them on that messy menu -- we almost missed the nifty panorama mode (it stitches four shots together, and you get visual aid for aligning when shooting) near the bottom of the long list, not to mention what a pain it is having to scroll all the way down to enable or disable it at launch.
Another niggle we have is the lens cover on the battery door. It doesn't cause any problem in well-lit places, but at night, we noticed that the cover is prone to adding haze and reflections to our images, so be warned. A far more serious but less intermittent problem lies in the camcorder mode -- you'll notice that the night time clip in our sample video below suffers from two glitches early on, followed by audio and video going slightly out of sync. But since then we haven't been able to replicate this bug. Otherwise, video quality isn't bad, although it could do with a little bump in frame rate.
All in all, Dell's delivered a solid phone that comes in nice package, as well as a form factor that's no doubt more tolerable for the average joe. For what it's worth, the Venue is certainly a very attractive deal (in Hong Kong, at least), especially with its relatively new OS, slick UI, and a surprisingly good camera. If Dell gets around to tweaking the charging issue, audio quality, camera app, and camcorder performance, then the Venue would pretty much be the must-have phone. Well, except we all know that it probably won't get its 2.3 update until a gazillion months later. Anyway, it'd be good enough if Dell can amend some of these bugs before the Venue lands in other countries, if ever.

More than a year ago, an Android powered Dell smartphone going by the codename of "Thunder" rocketed onto the scene showcasing the kind of engineering marvel that's being concocted over in Dell's camp. Fast forward to early this year in February, the Dell Venue finally became a reality by bringing all the wonderful things we saw with its Windows Phone 7 counterpart in the Dell Venue Pro – sans the keyboard though. On paper, this $99.99 on-contract Android 2.2 Froyo handset seems pretty bountiful with its perceived high-end specs, but it'll be interesting to see how Dell's Android beauty will stack up with the ever-evolving competition.

Exact in almost every way to its Windows Phone 7 sibling, except for the distinguishable fact that it's a solid candybar handset without a keyboard, the Dell Venue's industrial design sports some elegant qualities that ultimately make it shine in every way imaginable. With its angular cutouts, chrome trim plated sides, and sturdy pattered plastic rear casing, everything about the Dell Venue is characteristically appealing to look at and hold. Even though it's not the slimmest (0.51" thick) or most compact (5.78 oz) thing we've seen, it's nevertheless able to capture our attention with its refined design elements.

Without a doubt, one of the defining things about the Dell Venue is its wickedly robust 4.1" WVGA (480 x 800) AMOLED display with support for 16.7 million colors. Needless to say, everything pops out with its sharp details, vibrant looking color production, and high-contrast. Moreover, it sports some awesome viewing angles that enable colors to retain their appearance at every angle – though, it still requires a good shade outdoors. Even though it doesn't offer any advantages, the curved nature of the display adds this neat looking distorting effect when viewing it at extreme angles.

Granted that it resorts to sticking with a three button layout, we don't have any issues accidentally pressing any of the capacitive Android buttons below the display – mainly because they're spaced evenly from one another. Meanwhile, we find its thin looking earpiece grill, light, and proximity sensors perched above the touchscreen.

Despite appearing flush to the surface, the dedicated power, volume, and shutter buttons exhibit a reasonable amount of feedback when pressed. Surprisingly enough, there's a dedicated vibration switch located on the left side of the phone to instantly place it into vibration mode. Also, the 3.5mm headset jack, microUSB port, microphone, and speaker are located around its sides.
